Day 1. Shenandoah National Park

We left State College Saturday morning and headed for Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The view was breath-taking on the mountain but the drive was slow-going. We stopped for a picnic dinner and at some bear crossings--saw a mother with three cubs cross into the darkness of the woods. It was late when we got off the mountain and sometime after midnight we stopped at a rest area somewhere in Tennesee for a few hours.

Posing in Shenandoah for the beginning of our adventure.
Our trusty road trip vehicle.
Jenn poses on a wall overlooking the valley.
Beautiful day and view in the park.
Our first dinner on the road - Seltzer's Lebanon Bologna.
Jenn is excited to start our picnic.
More great views of the valley.
An interesting dead tree in Shenandoah National Park.
One of the many black bears we spotted along the side of the road in the park.
